The NSWA is engaging with community leaders who live and do business within the North Saskatchewan Watershed. Discussion began in February 2009 with Rural Municipalities. A second meeting was held with this group in December 2009. We are now opening up these meetings to other community leaders in the watershed. You are invited to join the discussions taking place in each of the Headwaters, Central and Downstream sub-regions.

About NSWA

The North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA) is a non-profit society whose purpose is to protect and improve water quality and ecosystem functioning in the North Saskatchewan River Watershed in Alberta. The organization is guided by a Board of Directors composed of representatives of member organizations from within the watershed. It is the designated Watershed Planning and Advisory Council (WPAC) for the North Saskatchewan River under the Government of Alberta's Water for Life Strategy.
Members agree that a holistic approach to watershed management is an essential requirement for social, environmental, and economic well-being. Members work with each other to generate ideas, seek solutions, develop and implement projects, and advocate the goals and objectives of the NSWA within their community.
Vision
The North Saskatchewan River basin is a watershed in which ecological integrity is the foundation for environmental, cultural, social and economic decision making. Actions taken and policies implemented result in the wise use and management of the North Saskatchewan River watershed in Alberta.
Our Values
The North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance members:
- have no hidden agenda; the goals and intentions are public to all
- embrace a collaborative, consensus based approach to decision making
- take a watershed level, ecosystem approach to planning and activities

Mission
To protect and improve water quality, water quantity and the health of our watershed by: seeking, developing and sharing knowledge; facilitating partnerships and collaborative planning; and working in an adaptive management process.
