Canadian Heritage River Systems Background Study: North Saskatchewan River

The purpose of this Background Study was to determine whether the North Saskatchewan River meets the established Canadian Heritage River System selection criteria and integrity criteria to be nominated as a Canadian Heritage River. The North Saskatchewan River was identified as an “A List” river, with the second highest evaluation score in the “Canadian Heritage Rivers System Study of Alberta Rivers”, completed in February 1996 by Alberta Environmental Protection, and a background study was the next step in the Canadian Heritage River nomination process.  The reports documents and assesses the cultural, natural and recreational resources along the length of the North Saskatchewan River.
