Cumulative Effects Management Framework
Alberta Environment is developing a new approach for protecting air, land and water from the cumulative impacts of development. Cumulative effects management considers the environmental impacts of development across entire regions, and uses collaborative approaches to develop shared outcomes and objectives, build partnerships, and set regional limits.
Alberta Environment is implementing two prototype projects in the North Saskatchewan River Basin: the Industrial Heartland Cumulative Impacts Prototype, and the East-Central Alberta Cumulative Effects Prototype. NSWA is playing an active role in both prototypes.
