NSWA in the News: Elk Point Review

Alberta Beef representative and Director of the Board Bill Fox, along with staff member Graham Watt, attended the Elk Point Agriculture Society's Bench Fair on August 15, 2010. Proudly displaying a draft copy of the North Saskatchewan River Atlas, the two gentlemen spent the day talking with Elk Point and area residents about watershed issues. Bill Fox has done a wonderful job promoting NSWA's work, and Graham was lucky enough to see him in action.

Alberta Environment hosts WPAC Forum

On June 22, 2010 Alberta Environment hosted a forum for all Board and staff members of all the WPACs. At this forum, we were presented with a "partnership protocol" AENV has been working on to outline expectations regarding our respective roles and responsibilities. The main purpose of the Protocol is to clarify Alberta Environment's expectations around roles and responsibilities of WPACs and the department, based on our current Water for Life partnership.

Red Deer Watershed Alliance seeks Facilitator

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA), one of our sister Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils, is initiating the next phase of their watershed planning process being the Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP). They have published a Request for Proposals for a facilitator to lead their engagment process.

NSWA involved in City of Edmonton Sustainability Planning

The City of Edmonton is working with Edmontonians to update its environmental strategic plan (The Way We Green). Their goal is to present a bold and innovative strategy to City Council in early 2011.

OTTAWA — Alberta faces a water shortage, along with threats to its environment and economy, unless the province adopts better water-management policies, according to a study released Thursday by the C.D. Howe Institute.
